Chris Counts, LCSW joined the Harbor-UCLA Social Work staff in 2012. Prior to her position at Harbor-UCLA, she worked in community mental health settings operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Veterans Administration (VA) for over twenty years.
Chris was intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in 2000 and provided leadership for two DBT programs at DMH sites. In addition to DBT, Chris has extensive experience working with dual diagnosis and trauma. She worked as the mental health liaison to a residential drug treatment program for over ten years. Chris’s interest in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) began at the VA and has continued throughout her social work career. In 2011, Chris was trained as a Prolonged Exposure Therapy supervisor by Dr. Edna Foa. As a result of this training, she is committed to providing effective treatment for PTSD in community mental health settings.
