David Alvarado is a bilingual clinical social worker with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health at Harbor-UCLA Child and Adolescent Psychiatry clinic. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach in 2012. Mr. Alvarado later went on to complete his Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles in 2017. He is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Seeking Safety, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Prior to joining the team at Harbor-UCLA, Mr. Alvarado worked at Didi Hirsch and Pacific Clinics where he provided school-based, outpatient, and in-home psychotherapy and case management services to children, adolescents, and their families. Mr. Alvarado has also worked with children and adults with Autism by providing in-home Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services.
Currently, Mr. Alvarado is working towards his certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and is a current member of the Adolescent DBT treatment team. Mr. Alvarado also serves as a field instructor to MSW graduate students here at Harbor.
